During an off weekend from his K&N Pro Series West schedule, current series point leader Chris Eggleston hopped behind the wheel of his Legends car at Colorado National Speedway. The driver from Erie, CO made the weekend count as he edged Danny Medina for the win at the finish line.
“It was fun to get back to my roots and do a little Legend car racing this past weekend,” said Eggleston. “It was a very fun and tight battle, as you could have thrown a blanket over the top four cars the whole race”
Eggleston started seventh in a 23-car field and chased down the leaders to get to the front. Eggleston, Medina and Kyle Clegg swapped the lead a couple of times over a handful of restarts before Eggleston settled into the top spot. Coming to the checkers Eggleston and Medina were side by side, with Eggleston grabbing the edge and the win on the outside.
“It’s always fun to jump back in my Legend car, especially at Colorado National Speedway, a fast 3/8 mile track for those cars,” said Eggleston. “We have four or five guys that can go and run up front at any national event, so the Legend Series is not lacking for talent that is for sure. With the tire that these cars are on, you are definitely white-knuckled the whole race, sliding around side by side with each other, and think it makes you a better driver no matter what series you are racing in, or preparing for in the future.”
The K&N Pro Series West has another free weekend, but Eggleston isn’t taking any time off. He hopes to climb behind the wheel of his Super Late Model in his home state of Colorado this weekend.
“This next weekend, we are trying to get our Super Late Model back together to run this next weekend here in Colorado, as long as the rain and or snow stays away.”
